Mac storage, finally explained

Your Mac isn’t full of junk. It’s full of your stuff.

Cleaners clear caches that grow right back. Super Duper Space finds what’s really eating your disk: years of Messages videos, copies of photos you already saved, and app data nobody explained. Then it shows you what’s safe to delete.

Why your Mac is still full

Cleaners delete caches. Caches grow back.

One-click cleaners hunt for “junk” like caches, logs, and leftovers. You win back a few gigabytes, and your apps rebuild them within days. The space that stays gone is the stuff you made and saved. A cleaner won’t touch it, because it can’t tell what matters to you. We help you decide.

01

Go after the big stuff

Start with your largest files and oldest videos. Not ten thousand tiny cache files that your apps will rebuild by Friday.

02

Know what it is first

Every item tells you which app made it, why it keeps growing, and what happens if you delete it. Even the mystery “System Data” pile.

03

Delete with proof

Already saved that video to Photos? We show you both copies side by side, so you can let one go without a second thought.

The space hog nobody talks about

Every video anyone ever texted you is probably still on your Mac.

Birthday videos, group chat memes, a thousand GIFs. macOS just says “Messages: 34 GB” and leaves it there. Super Duper Space opens up that pile so you can clear it out in one sitting. No digging through hidden folders.

Swipe through the biggest videos

Watch each video, then pick Keep or Delete. Start with the largest, the oldest, or one noisy group chat.

Spot what’s already in Photos

We check your Photos library on your Mac and show you the match. Nothing downloads from iCloud.

Clear out the copies

Same meme in three group chats? We find exact copies, so you keep one and let the rest go.

Change your mind

Deleted files wait in a holding area first. Undo anytime, or empty it once you’re sure.

Try this now

How much is Messages using on your Mac?

Check in 30 seconds. No download needed.

  1. 1

Open the Apple menu and choose System Settings.

  2. 2

    Click General, then Storage.

  3. 3

Give the bars a moment to fill in. Then find Messages in the list.

More than a few gigabytes? That’s mostly videos and photos people sent you. It’s exactly what Super Duper Space helps you clear.

From our own test Mac

One Mac. 18.7 GB of forgotten Messages videos.

22,225Messages attachments found and sorted
18.71 GBof videos lined up for review
218 videos(2.2 GB) already saved in Photos
1,398 filesdeleted, then checked and confirmed gone

Numbers from our development Mac. Yours will be different. macOS shares and compresses storage, so the space you get back can be less than a file’s size.

Super Duper Space vs. one-click cleaners

A cleaner guesses. We show you.

Most cleaners give you one big number and one big button. That’s fine for caches. It’s scary when it’s your videos.

Clear caches that come right back Find the big files that stay gone
One big “junk” number What each item is, and why it’s there
Messages is one giant folder Every video, photo, and GIF, one at a time
Click once and hope A holding area, Undo, then a recheck

How it works

From “my disk is full” to done.

  1. 1

    Scan your Mac

The scan runs on your Mac. If macOS blocks a folder, we tell you which one and how to open it up.

  2. 2

    See what’s big, and why

Your biggest items come first. Each one gets a plain-English note: what it is, why it grows, and what deleting it does.

  3. 3

    Pick what goes

Watch videos, check Photos matches, and clear out copies. You decide every time.

  4. 4

    Delete, undo, confirm

Files go to a holding area first. When you empty it, we rescan and show you what changed.

Today, Super Duper Space deletes Messages attachments for you. For everything else, it tells you what it is and how to clean it up in the app that owns it.

Private by design

Your files never leave your Mac.

No account. No analytics. We never upload your scan, read your texts, or send your photos anywhere. Super Duper Space asks for access only when a scan needs it.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

How is this different from CleanMyMac?

One-click cleaners are good at clearing caches and leftovers. Those come back on their own. Super Duper Space goes after the big things: years of Messages videos, copies of what’s already in Photos, and app data nobody explained. It tells you what each one is before anything gets deleted.

Why does my Mac say “System Data” is huge?

System Data is where macOS puts everything it doesn’t label: caches, app data, local backups, and more. We break it down by app so you can see what’s inside. Our total won’t match Apple’s exactly, but you’ll finally see the parts.

Is this a one-click cleaner?

No, and that’s on purpose. You see what something is, then you decide. We just make deciding fast.

What can it delete today?

Messages videos, photos, and attachments, with Undo. For everything else, we tell you what it is and how to clean it up in the app that owns it. More cleanup types are on the way.

Will it delete messages from my iPhone too?

No. It removes the file stored on your Mac. Your conversations stay put. To delete a message on every device, use the Messages app. If you use Messages in iCloud, a file may download again later.

Does it upload my files?

No. Your scan, filenames, and media stay on your Mac. There’s no account and no analytics.
